Saint Patrick's Day

lucky clover

March 17th is St. Patrick's Day, and although it is traditionally an Irish Catholic holiday, people around the world from all religions and nationalities love to celebrate this holiday. Even those with no Irish descent can be "Irish for a day!"

In honor of Saint Patrick, a patron saint of Ireland, people celebrate by wearing green (and often times orange, in honor of Ireland's flag), eating green foods, and drinking green-colored drinks. Cities around the world host parades and celebrations. People in the United States wear lots of green clothing and items, as the tradition is that they are pinched if they are caught without!
