Snickerdoodles


snickerdoodles If you've been searching for a Snickerdoodles recipe that made the outside crispy, but the center soft and chewy, you will love this one! Tip: Mix by hand for an even better texture!

1/2 cup butter, softened
1/2 cup shortening
1 1/2 cups white sugar
2 eggs
2 teaspoons vanilla extract
2 3/4 cups all-purpose flour
2 teaspoons cream of tartar
1 teaspoon baking soda
1/4 teaspoon salt
3 tablespoons white sugar
3 teaspoons ground cinnamon

Preheat oven to 400 degrees F (200 degrees C).

Cream together butter, shortening, 1 1/2 cups sugar, eggs and vanilla. In a separate bowl, mix together flour, cream of tartar, baking soda and salt. Add to dough and mix. Shape dough by rounded spoonfuls into balls.

Mix the 3 tablespoons sugar and the cinnamon together in a Ziplock bag. Shape dough by rounded spoonfuls into balls. One at a time, place balls of dough in mixture and shake until evenly coated. Place 2 inches apart on ungreased baking sheets.

Bake 8 minutes, middle should be cracked. Remove immediately from baking sheets.
