Pecan Pie



1/3 c. butter, softened
1 c. packed brown sugar
1 c. light corn syrup
1/4 tsp. salt
3 eggs, lightly beaten
1 tsp. vanilla
1 9-inch pie shell crust, unbaked
1 cup pecan halves
Whipped cream or ice cream, as desired

In a mixing bowl, cream together sugar and shortening.

Add corn syrup, salt, eggs, and vanilla, beat well.

Pour into unbaked pie shell.

Sprinkle pecans evenly on top.

Place pie on a baking sheet and bake at 30 degrees for approximately 45 minutes or until middle of pie is set.

Remove from oven and allow to cool. Top with ice cream or whipped cream as desired.
