Old Fashion Beef Stew



From The Kitchen of Robyn Haggerty

2 pounds beef stew meat cut into 1 ½ inch cubes
2 teaspoons salt
½ cup flour
1 teaspoon sugar
2 tablespoons oil
6 carrots peeled sliced and
1 bay leaf
1 cup sliced celery
1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
4 potatoes, peeled and cut up
1 onion chopped
12 small pearl onions
1 cup beef bouillon
½ teaspoon pepper
4 cups water

Coat the meat with flour. In a large skillet heat the oil. Brown the meat on all sides. In a crock pot place the browned meat, bay leaf, Worcestershire sauce, onion, beef bouillon, pepper, salt, sugar and vegetables. Pour in the water. Cover and cook on low for 8 to 10 hours.
