New Years Eve is exciting for children. If you choose, you can even invite some of their friends for a fun sleepover. Whether you decide to keep it just your own family or make it a party, we have some ideas to make New Year's Eve extra memorable!
--Purchase party poppers and noisemakers for the kids to use. Also, you can find tiaras and hats appropriate for New Year's. Check out Oriental Trading Company for amazing deals on those items.
--You're going to need to keep the kids entertained until midnight (if they are older and can stay up late). Break out the board games to play. Have a celebratory tv show on in the background, such as "Rockin' New Year's Eve".
--If your children are younger and require an earlier bedtime, why not celebrate midnight in a different timezone? For example, if you are in California, you can celebrate New York's midnight countdown and have the kids in bed by 9:30 pm!
--If you have kept up on your scrapbook or blog this year (kudos to you if you did!), now would be the perfect time to break those out and reflect back with your family on the good times. Ask them about their favorite moments of the year.
--Surprise your children by giving them wrapped gifts. Gift ideas include calendars in a theme they love, handmade calendars with pictures of the family, or new clocks.
--When the clock strikes midnight, have balloons on hand for the kids to pop. Using a funnel, fill each one with about a cup of confetti as well as a rolled up fortune to read! Your kids will love searching for and reading their good luck messages!
