Create Your own Flower PensFor our wedding reception, I created these adorable orchid pens for our guests to go along with our beach theme. I then tied them to a cute custom-made future-predicting questionnaire to fill out for us to put into our guest book. (The responses in the questionnaires were hilarious, by the way! I highly recommend going that route at your own wedding reception!)
At the time, I made too many of them, but discovered how nice it is to have a bouquet of flower pens sitting in our pen holder on the desk! Imagine how cute they would be with a variety of colors and types of flowers. Or maybe even a dozen fancy red roses!
You will also need floral tape (pictured, also found at craft stores). They come in a few different colors such as green and brown. And don't forget a hot glue gun and glue sticks to go into the gun.
Insert the stem end of your silk flower or flowers and put a little bit of melted glue into the pen to secure the flower. Now you are ready to wrap your pens with the floral tape. The secret to getting the tape to become sticky (it feels more like a regular ribbon), is to gently pull it to activate the glue. Pulling it taut will help it secure it. Start at the top of your pen, and cover the space where your flower comes out of the pen. Continue to tightly wrap the tape around the pen, trapping the beginning end of the tape. Wrap in a spiral all the way to the end of the pen. As you tear the tape, pull the very end extra-taut and secure to pen. It is a very easy, simple, and inexpensive crafty idea! |

To get started, purchase the silk flowers of your choice. I purchased mine at a craft store and was able to get seven blossoms on each stem:
Use a pair of pliers to carefully remove the back of a ball-point pen.
