Cookie Recipe Exchange Party

Christmas Cookies This year, instead of fussing over several recipes and mass amounts of baking cookies to give to your friends, host a cookie exchange party instead!

In preparation for the party, ask each guest to email you their recipe that they plan on making to bring to the party. Collect all the recipes and add them to a book. Make enough copies of the book for each guest.

Let the guests know how many people are coming so they can expect to make anywhere from three to twelve cookies per guest (everyone will be taking cookies home!).

Ask each guest to bring a tin to collect their cookies in. Provide wax paper for them in case they need it to separate cookies in the tins.

On the day of the party, set the ambiance by playing appropriate Christmas music. New this year are Josh Groban's "Noel" and The Mormon Tabernacle Choir's "Spirit of the Season", both highly recommended.

Also a fun idea (if you don't have a fireplace) is to purchase a "Christmas Yule Log Fireplace" DVD which is a video recording of a fireplace on your television screen!

Have plenty of drinks available. Might we recommend one of our MANY decadent hot cocoa recipes or our delicious wassail recipe?

When you are ready, have everyone sit in a circle or around the kitchen table where all the cookies will be on display. Have each guest share story, either about the cookie itself or of a memory of Christmas past. (Let your guests know ahead of time that is in the plans, as they will want time to prepare their stories!)
