A Simplified Cleaning ScheduleCleaning house seems so "common sense", doesn't it? Yet, when you've got a toddler that is just two seconds behind you messing everything up that you just cleaned or put away, it can be daunting. Or maybe you've got a full-time job that leaves you little time to clean your living space. Either way, it's hard to keep your home clean and organized after a long, hard day. Well, put off cleaning up a mess or ignore it and it will eventually grow to the point of being overwhelming. Messes and disorganization have a way of rapidly piling up, and before you know it, you get to the point where you don't know where to start. So then you ignore it for another day, right? One the biggest misconceptions in my life was that I had to do all of my chores at once, not stopping until the entire job was done, and the house was deep-cleaned from top to bottom. But through experience (especially after having my first son), I've learned the best way to keep up your home is to tackle things as they come, such as the dishes (always, always rinse your dishes and put them immediately into the dishwasher!). Then the larger things, such as scrubbing your bathroom, should be put onto a specific schedule. A realistic schedule that you can live by. If you're one of those who thinks this is all common sense and that keeping a clean space is a piece of cake, then bravo. But you'd be surprised at how many women I know who have a hard time prioritizing housework and getting things done in an efficient manner. To help put your housecleaning schedule in order, here in this link is a great PDF created by Real Simple that you can print out. Check out the cleaning chart here. This cleaning schedule will look really nice placed on a cork board in the laundry/mud room. Or maybe try posting it inside the door of your pantry. Learning to keep up with your housekeeping chores before they pile up too big will conserve energy. Energy better well spent playing with your children and doing the things that truly matter. Doesn't it just change the entire spirit and mood of your home when it is kept clean? Yes! So improve your quality of life by keeping up with the small things while they are still small. |
